Gene Price Motorsports and Driver Greg Pursley Set for Infineon Challenge
Pursley Poised to Put Road Racing Experience to the Test
PARKER, AZ (June 16, 2010) – Greg Pursley, driver of the GPM Performance Parts Ford in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series for Gene Price Motorsports loves racing on the series road courses. This weekend is a homecoming of sorts having started his four-wheeled racing career on the challenging right and left layouts. The former NASCAR National Weekly Racing Series champion is in the middle of the championship hunt and win at Infineon Raceway would go a long way towards the series trophy.
Pursley has felt the sting from last season's bitter disappointment at Infineon where a top three finish vanished in an instant with only three laps left to go. "We had a really good car last year," Pursley said. "We have an even better car this year. Jerry Pitts (crew chief) and the rest of the guys have been focused all season on building and preparing the best race cars. We feel this is a track where we can shine."
After starting his career in road racing, Pursley transitioned into circle track racing where he garnered tremendous success, most notably winning the NASCAR national championship for weekly racing competing at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale (CA). "I really like road racing and I do miss it at times. Tracks like Infineon test all of your abilities. You are only as good as your last lap."
The event this year will certainly be a test as Pursley will vie for one of 40 starting positions in the Thunder Valley Casino Resort "200" that will feature not only series regulars but several road racing experts who hope to etch their names in the NASCAR and Infineon record books.
"I really want to win," Pursley stated. "Gene Price (owner) has given everything this team needs to win and this team deserves a win for all their hard work. We know a win is around the corner and we just hope it is at Infineon."
Greg Pursley is in his third full season of competition in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series and currently sits third in the championship standings after four races and is coming off a solid sixth place performance two weeks ago at Roseburg, OR. Pursley has 33 career starts, one win (Thunder Hill 2009), with ten top five and 18 top ten performances along with two Coors Light Pole Awards. Pursley is the 2004 NASCAR Whelen All American Series National Champion where he competed at Toyota Speedway and was a multi-time winner on the now defunct NASCAR Southwest Tour where he competed for many years.
