Pursley Qualifies Third for Showdown
Gene Price Motorsports Puts Two in the Show with Pursley and Muzny

IRWINDALE, CA (January 30, 2010) – Greg Pursley, driver of the Gene Price Motorsports Ford in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series, qualified third his Ford in the third position for the 225-lap NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown tonight at the marquee oval of Toyota Speedway in Irwindale, CA. Pursley toured the half-mile banked oval in 18.475 seconds and will start the event on the inside of row two.

“We had work all day on race set up,” Pursley said. “Since the cars are impounded after qualifying it was more important to ensure we had a good set up for the long run and I am pleased with how we qualified. We have a great car for the race.”

The race will be broken up into three segments with a break mid-way through the race and another break with 25-laps to go setting up a Saturday night shootout under the lights. “This race comes down to being in contention at the end,” Pursley stated. “With a 25-lap dash it is going to be wild. The best place to be is out front and that is where we hope to be.”

Driving a second car for GPM is Candace Muzny who used to be a regular at Irwindale but who relocated to North Carolina last winter. Muzny made her way into the showdown by finishing third in the 50-lap last chance qualifiers race last night. “It was kind of nerve racking,” Muzny said. “I made a couple of mistake in the race but we were able to race our way back to the front and I will take a third any day if it gets us in the show. I am excited about racing 225 laps and I hope we can have a good finish.”

Greg Pursley enters his third full season of competition in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series in 2010 is sponsored by Gene Price Motorsports, GPM Performance Parts, Star Nursery, Oakley,  Ron’s Rear Ends, and Finish Line Signs & Designs.   Pursley has 29 career series starts with one win (Thunder Hill 2009), ten top five and 16 top ten performances. Pursley is the 2004 NASCAR Whelen All American Series national champion where he competed at Toyota Speedway and was a multi-time winner on the now defunct NASCAR Southwest Tour where he competed for many years. The seventh annual NASCAR Toyota All Star Showdown at Toyota Speedway in Irwindale, CA will be live on SPEED Channel tonight starting at 7:00pm PT.
